St. Ursula's have been taking part in the Discover Primary Science and Maths programme since 2007. We have won 12 awards since then, and are in the process of applying for our 13th!

GREEN FLAG

The students and staff of St. Ursula's are committed to protecting the environment, and keeping our school Green.


In 2004, St. Ursula's became the first school in Waterford City to be awarded a Green Flag. Since then we have been awarded 8 Green Flags. We have focused on a different environmental theme for every flag, and addressed topics such as energy-saving, biodiversity, litter management, globalization and Fair Trade.

AMBER FLAG

The Amber Flag is an initiative to promote Wellbeing in schools. This year we are applying for our first flag. Our Amber Flag Committee is working very hard, introducing ideas and initiatives to promote Wellbeing in St. Ursula's.

ACTIVE FLAG

In St. Ursula's we are committed to ensuring that our students and staff get lots of opportunities to be active.


Since getting our first Active Flag Award, we have introduced a range of activities to keep our students and staff fit and active. To complement our extra-curricular sports programme, we have introduced the school marathon, Active Lunches, Go Noodle, and lots of other fun activities.

SCHOOL EXCELLENCE AWARD

in 2019, St. Ursula's was presented with a School Excellence Award for their participation in the W.I.T. Hands On Maths Excellence Programme.

T.E.S.A. AWARDS

In 2019, St. Ursula's applied to the Entrepreneurial School Awards for the first time. This is a National Award, funded by Junior Achievement Ireland, which acknowledges entrepreneurship in schools. 
We were delighted to be chosen as the best overall large school in the country. We were presented with a Gold Star Award, and awarded a bursary of €1,000!
